How to carry money while travelling

If you are planning to go abroad for any purpose, like higher studies, tourism or business purpose, it is not a good idea to carry all the cash with you. There should be certain limits for the amount of cash that can be carried.

So apart from cash you may take

1. Travellers cheque
2. Prepaid card
3. Credit Card

Travellers cheque : This is a good option to carry but you need a bank to cash it and apart from this, the same person can encash who has put the signature while making it. The major disadvantage is that you cannot do the online transaction with it.

Credit Card: This is familiar to all. You can take the credit card and encash as much amount you wish from any ATM and can also do online transaction. But the problem is that it is prone to loss.

Prepaid Cards: This is the best option according to me. This is a card which can be used to get the cash from ATM and can also be used in Online payement and transaction (depends on the bank). If it gets stolen, then a fixed amount is lost instead of the whole account balance.

In this card, you have to fill an amount before hand and you can get as much you want at any time. When the card has no money then it's useless and at that time you may ask your parents to put some amount in the card. This can be done very easily.

It is known by many names used by different banks like Forex card, Travellers Card, Vishwa Yatra card and generally, prepaid cards.

The bank charges an amount for every transaction but not for the online transaction, like payment during shopping, but then it charges when you take cash from an ATM or enquire about the balance, or when you put some amount and when you withdraw the whole amount left out after returning from the trip.

If you are going to US then you can have USD in your account. If you are going to UK, then GBP can make different card for different countries as you need different currency.
